Runway Impacts by improving opportunities and increasing jobs

Everything that Runway does is driven by powering our participants’ desire to “change the world”.

A Runway Award lays the foundation for future success, with many award winners going on to bigger and better things, while those that don’t secure funding learn from the experience. We are very proud that Bristol graduates’ start-up business survival rates are around twice the national average. Below is a snapshot of how some of the first and second round of winners from 2021/22 onwards have gone on to achieve success.

Mifu’s AI driven micro-influencer marketing platform continues to attract high-profile clients in the media and entertainment industry with thousands joining at their launch event helping them to secure a significant seed investment round to fund further expansion. They are now employing 10 people and met their year 2 revenue target by month 8.

Eleria (previously CupSquared) were recognised by the Royal Academy of Engineering who awarded them first prize in a national competition for sustainability. Their menstrual cup cleaner enables women to clean period products while out and about making the use of reusable products far more accessible thereby reducing consumption of single use sanitary towels.

Milbotix has shown the way in inclusive innovation. Their “smart socks” give an early warning of distress among dementia sufferers. The Alzheimer’s Association praised the innovation for being unobtrusive to the wearers significantly reducing the risk of them rejecting the device. See this BBC report from a few years ago. This year Milbotix have secured a substantial grant that should hugely help them get their product through trials and into the broader market.
